#Oil prices surge after #Iran attacks #US base in #Iraq

Prices of oil jumped highly on Wednesday after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps confirmed that it conducted rocket attacks on the Al Asad base in western Iraq that hosts American troops. According to media reports, somewhere between six to 30 rockets were fired at the base.

United States President Donald Trump has been briefed on Iran’s attack on American troops stationed at the Al Asad base in Iraq and that he is “monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.”

West Texas Intermediate futures for February settlement rose 3.31%, to go for $64.70 per barrel at 8:13 pm ET, whereas Brent futures for delivery in March jumped 3.63%, selling for $70.81 a barrel at 8:13 pm ET.
